Stephen Walker , Tasmanian (1927-2014)

The prolific sculptor was born in Colac, Victoria

He studied at RMIT before moving to Tasmania more than 60 years ago.

In the 1950s, he studied under the most celebrated sculptor of his time, the Englishman Henry Moore.

His best known public works include such bronzes as the Bernacchi Tribute on the Hobart waterfront, the Abel Tasman fountain in Salamanca Square, Heading South at Victoria Dock and Tidal Pools at Sandy Bay.
