A George III Sheraton period satinwood & mahogany banded long case Regulator. The anthropomorphic drum head case with a lift out trunk panel below a waisted circular hood with close fitting hinged brass bezel. The 8 day regulator movement with silvered 14” dial signed: Josiah Emery, London, with outer ring minutes, subsidiary dials for seconds & hours, the seconds ring has 5 second observatory markings, the flat steel pendulum rod with circular brass bob for compensation, dead beat escapement, maintaining power & spoked wheels, very substantial shaped brass plates & 5 pinned pillars.

Josiah Emery b.1725-d.1797 was an eminent Swiss watchmaker settled in London working from 33 Cockspur Street, Charing Cross. Emery was best known as the watch maker to follow Mudge in making watches with a lever escapement.
