the 30cm circular silvered dial with Roman numerals and outer minute divisions, spade-hour hand and plain minute, signed 'Thwaites & Reed, Clerkenwell; the substantial movement with thick plates, chain fusee quarter chiming on 8 bells and single striking hour bell, anchor escapement with pendulum hold-fast secured with brackets; the back plate engraved Thwaites & Reed. The arched case with lion-mask ring handles, the pagoda top surmounted by a brass ball, the case with four brass balls, finely pierced brass sound-frets front and sides with brass inlaid and fluted quarter columns. The stepped base on four ball feet.
